These are just some of the topics covered on the Twitter Space:
“I believe about 50 percent of jobs will be somewhat or
extremely threatened by AI in the next 15 years or so,”

Industry regulators are pushing the trucking industry into more expensive equipment and technologies that OEMs are still perfecting.
The Department of Labor is trying to reverse a Trump administration rule that made it easier for businesses to classify workers as independent contractors, such as owner-operators who haul freight for other carriers. Several trucking associations have registered concern over these changes upending the long-standing role independent contractors play within freight movement in the U.S.
For some owner-operators, it looks like the end of the road
According to a recent FreightWaves Research survey, when asked to select statements that applied to them 35.2% of self-identified owner-operators checked, “If the market does not rebound materially by the end of 2023, I will leave the industry.”
Meanwhile, about 21% said they were having trouble finding loads to haul, suggesting woes weren’t primarily volume related — at least not yet.
Fewer than 8% said they were considering signing on with a larger carrier.Truckers collide with EPA over new environmental standards, could hurt mom & pop companies. The latest heavy-duty engine rule goes into effect for model year 2027 commercial vehicles which is going to impose manufacturer requirements that could increase the cost of diesel trucks by $42,000.
The NACFE calls the trucker driver issues as the “the messy middle.”
Other issues include is the government imposing electronic engine control unit to govern speed limits, and the proposal of requiring an electronic ID to “allow one-way wireless communication from vehicle to commercial vehicle inspectors, allowing them to know the IDs of all trucks in their vicinity.”
America Mission readers and members, to help you understand the life of a trucker, we offer up:
To all the truck drivers across the United States:
We do appreciate you. Thank you.
As usual, AM Grind hits the listeners with the top headlines!
Here are just a few:

China’s Still Wants Taiwan for Themselves
Chinese leader Xi Jinping desires to have the military prepared to invade by 2027 (one of the boxes Jinping wants to check off before he dies).
China spends billions on military while US sends billions to Ukraine.
United States has stated, even if it is just because of ‘federal law’, that we have a duty to stand with Taiwan. Why must both U.S. and Taiwan be hesitant to admit that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy invited Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wenan to visit the White House in the upcoming weeks?
Taiwan and the Taiwanese are everything China wishes they were.
That's all this is about.

Note to self: Do not stop for directions in Matamoros, Mexico:
A family member of one of the victims has said that they travelled from South Carolina to Matamoros because one of them was getting a tummy tuck there.
US officials familiar with the investigation told CNN that authorities believe a Mexican cartel mistook the victims for Haitian drug smugglers.
“Clan del Golfo” is the cartel known to operate and control the area.
The FBI had offered a $50,000 reward for help leading to the return of the unidentified victims and the arrest of the perpetrators. The reports neglect to state who found the victims and if the reward was paid to any informants.
