The ex-CIA Spook who became Facebook's "Factchecker": Aaron Berman
It's time to roll up our sleeves and get to work because Silicon Valley is still crawling with former feds.
The intel community’s grubby little fingerprints are all over Big Tech social media and America Mission is here to shed some light on them.
Aaron Berman is a former federal agent of over 17 years. Berman leveraged his high-level agency experience to grab a gig at one of the biggest social media companies, however old habits die hard. He is one of many operating within the infamous censorship-industrial complex and it’s time again for somebody to shine a spotlight on this deep state sympathizer.
The early days
Berman graduated from Williams College with a Bachelors in Computer Science and Music in 2001. His computer science degree landed him a cushy job at an intelligence agency we all know and love…
The CIA Spook
Berman worked in various roles for the CIA from 2002 to 2019. During this time, Berman returned to college and graduated from Georgetown University in 2011 with a Master of Public Policy in International Policy and Development.
He left the CIA as a senior analytic manager who oversaw “large teams of intelligence analysts to enable senior US officials to make decisions on the most critical national security issues.” His senior role gave him major access to the halls of power. He “wrote for and edited the President’s daily brief and led briefings for cabinet members, senior National Security Council officials, and members of Congress.”
The Meta Man and his Ongoing Operation Mockingbird
Berman left the CIA in 2019 to become Meta’s senior product policy manager for misinformation. Meta owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Berman effectively became Meta’s censorship monkey.
Berman was a prolific poster on LinkedIn. He admitted to Facebook’s censorious behavior but dressed it up as combating misinformation. It’s safe to say that Berman loves to brag about it.
Meta is pushing for increased regulations, including changing Section 230. Berman advocated for that in an ad campaign for Meta. The ad campaign led to Berman being featured in the Wall Street Journal. And, yes, he did brag about it on LinkedIn.
Berman helped coordinate Meta’s COVID censorship efforts with other organizations. For example, Berman met with Stanford’s Internet Observatory, including previous Faces of Tyranny, “CIA Renee” DiResta. Facebook censored content about COVID, and vaccines, and consulted with the World Health Organization (WHO).
Meta is loaded with former feds, though this shouldn’t surprise anyone who has been paying attention. This larger trend of ex-feds filling up the upper echelons of Big Tech was famously exposed thanks to the Twitter Files, a series of internal Twitter documents published from December 2022 through March 2023 on Twitter. After then-CEO Elon Musk acquired Twitter (now X) in October 2022, he gave the documents to journalists Matt Taibbi, Bari Weiss, Lee Fang, Michael Shellenberger, David Zweig, and Alex Berenson.
According to the New York Post, “at least eight former FBI agents” worked at Twitter’s Trust and Safety Council. Former FBI prosecutor turned deputy general counsel at Twitter, Jim Baker, was fired after somebody discovered that he had stayed in contact with the FBI and helped suppress the spread of the Hunter Biden laptop story that the FBI had known about and verified since November 2019.
Berman and Yoel Roth, the former head of Twitter’s Trust and Safety Council fired after being exposed during the Twitter Files, were mutuals on X. When Twitter’s infamous Trust and Safety Council began shutting down after Elon bought X, Berman hoped they’d know their work had made a difference and delivered a heartfelt thank you to his friends there.
Aaron Berman became Meta’s Lead for Elections Policies in May last year. He’s the head of elections-related content and misinformation policy. If you’ve ever been censored on Facebook, he probably had something to do with it.
Slinking Back into the Shadows
Berman didn’t like getting the spotlight shined on him over the years. He deleted his LinkedIn profile, changed his X username, and privated his posts. Berman’s Substack, The Blue Owl, touts “tips on writing and critical thinking. Often with sci-fi examples.” The last post was made over a year ago.
Hat-tip to Name Redacted on X for helping expose this important information while the legacy media dragged their feet and ran cover for Big Tech social media.
In May, Name Redacted blasted the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government and Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan, accusing them of running a sham investigation. He suggested that the Committee selectively unmasked Meta employees, protecting Berman. He alleged that Aaron Berman is the redacted author of the email to Mark Zuckerberg that Rep. Jim Jordan posted on X.

More where that came from!
People like Aaron Berman continue to shape normie narratives at Meta and other Big Tech social media giants. People are waking up to the Orwellian nature of the public-private partnerships between the Deep State and Big Tech, thanks to the rise of citizen journalism. The censorship-industrial complex is what modern-day tyranny looks like and even though it’s like a giant game of political Whack-a-Mole, America Mission is here to root out those glowie bad actors.
