“In St. Joseph, Missouri, a gentleman by the name of K Henry Dusenberry took up a young boy’s cause when the child complained that his mom and dad each had a “Day,” so why shouldn’t he? As it caught on, parents would celebrate the day by placing a flower representing each of their kids in a vase, putting it in a prominent room in their home.”
