AM Grind Wrap-up for April 15, 2024
Perhaps America would be better served by "A well regulated Militia..." instead of a bloated standing army.
Listen to the AM Grind Rewind here.
Opening Statement:
RaffyP is IN THE HOUSE (aka) with the news and topics of the day
“Good morning, it is Monday, April 15, 2024, and this is YOUR #AMGrind. Today is Recovery Monday, and boy, do we have a lot of stress and anxiety coming off this weekend. I nearly had a coronary on Saturday afternoon and had to avoid X that evening, which got me thinking about our opening statement today. But we'll get to that in a moment.
This morning I'm excited to have my esteemed and illustrious colleague Lucas, and I expect we'll see Walter and Cheryl amongst others for our conversation. And hopefully some of you will join us on stage as well this morning. For transparency, don't hesitate to request a mic.
Format of the Grind recap:
1st hour: 7 to 8 EST: News and commentary from me and you.
2nd hourish: 8 to 9:30 EST: Panel discussion and guest when we have them
Last hourish: 9:30 to 10 EST: Last news update and bring me any topics you want to dive into perhaps the next day.
We're so grateful that you have joined us this morning, and we hope you enjoy this Monday edition of the AM Grind, brought to you by America Mission.
Many of you might have expected that today's news would focus on the cruise missile shaped Elephant in the room. And, you're right, but I'm going to put a spin on said elephant that will make us dizzy... And it will require us to look back over time and understand the motivations of human beings when opportunity combines with tribalism and resources to make the trifecta.
We'll also dive into the FISA renewal that the traitor Speaker Johnson is pursuing and the push for more funding for more foreign wars this week. I encourage each of you to keep an eye out for America Mission calls to action so that you can tell your representatives how YOU want them to vote on these things. And
I'll recap our interview with Carbon Mike (aka Dexter the custom gun man and overall cool dude) who is testifying in his own defense today on Trumped up charges.
A lot to cover, but we'll get to it I promise, here on the #AMGrind brought to you by
.”

The News We Discussed:
Topic 1: Iran attack on Israel from Iranian soil. The first time since the Islamic revolution that Iran has NOT used proxies.
Source Material: The Attack
“According to Israeli military officials, around 170 drones, 30 cruise missiles and 120 ballistic missiles were fired towards Israel.” - MEE staff
Analysis:
For today's news, we saw the first direct attack on Israel by Iran from its own soil since the Iranian revolution. But the attack itself was done after, per Iran, warnings delivered directly to the US and the impact was almost zero. Of approximately 300 weapons launched at Israel, 99% were shot down long before they arrived in the Jewish state. It feels performative, to be honest, from my perspective, but likely served a couple of purposes. And I’m not the only one calling it “performative”.
Performative in that Iranian citizens feel their country is fighting back.
Valuable because it provides information to Iran on Israel's defensive measures in place.
Could create illusion of overconfidence making next round of attacks more effective that won't be warned about.
For the Military Industrial Complex and DC, it provides another excuse to print more money and we'll get into that here in more detail. Because what does one do with an investment like a large standing army... Why have one if you're not going to use it??? And likely gas prices are going up, but this action by Iran should solidify our Mideast "alliances" between Saudi's, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq.

Topic 2: On Standing Armies.
On this point, I think it is important to look at the history of standing armies. For once a Wikipedia article that isn't completely useless, but, we must remember that the first standing army we KNOW was truly a full time paid professional force is the Roman Army established under Augustus.
Prior to his becoming Emperor, various powerful nobles and consul's paid for the Roman Army, which, one could argue was always "standing" and fairly large, but, it was not officially an organ of the state until Augustus. From that point we see that army maintained by the Byzantine Empire and later the Ottoman Empire establishes the first Islamic standing army. And ultimately their repeated attacks on Western Europe resulted in Charles I establishing a permanent force of some size, supplemented by conscripts in times of crisis.
And from then on we see standing armies of one form or another in the modern world. But why do you think were standing armies not around for the majority of the 10,000 years that humans have lived amongst each other. From Wikipedia Standing army.
For reference: A neat commentary from our founding fathers on the dangers of a standing army.
And on Russia joining NATO… Would we still be in NATO? Would we have all these wars if we didn’t have to have NATO and feed it?
Topic 3: Murders in the Panhandle
In the case of a mother and her friend murdered by family members in small town Oklahoma, we learned from Lucas that the word in the Panhandle is that the grandmother fed her victims to her pigs. Really sad sad story that should never happen in a civilized country. Makes you think twice…
And from our Saturday space with Carbon Mike, we invite you to listen to the clips and the full interview here.
