She knows a great meme when she sees one: Jen Easterly
A force to be reckoned with in the deep state whose intelligence community experience and dopey disposition make her someone we should all be watching.
Meet Jen Easterly, the current director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) operating out of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), who's known for her unconventional, meme-inspired approach to cybersecurity. She's not your typical suit-and-tie government official, oh no.
This lady is shaking up the world of cybersecurity with her goofy dance moves, pop culture references, and a wardrobe that would make any middle-aged IT nerd blush. So, if you're looking for a government official who can play a quick tune and steal your data too, look no further than Jen. Despite her dorky demeanor, do not underestimate Easterly, because her professional background is daunting.
Jen Easterly, born Jennie Margaret Koch, not of Koch brothers fame, though that wouldn't have surprised us, was raised in Potomac, Maryland by two senior Reagan Administration officials. That exposure to federal power and influence would serve her well as she grew up and entered the game in Washington.
In the early 90’s, she attended the United States Military Academy and Pembroke College, Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. Easterly served as a US Army intelligence officer throughout most of the 90’s. In the 2000’s, she worked an assistant professor at West Point for a couple years before transitioning to the White House’s National Security Council as a senior policy advisor for a couple more years.
She served at U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) for two years. After that, she worked at the NSA for nearly 4 years before becoming part of the U.S. Cyber Command implementation team. A year later, she returned to the NSA; she worked there for 3 years, leaving as their deputy director for counterterrorism. Easterly retired from the military in 2010.
Easterly left to go back to the White House’s National Security Council as the special assistant to the president and senior director of counterterrorism up until Donald Trump’s election in 2016.
She began working as the Global Head of Cybersecurity at Morgan Stanley for over 4 years. After President Donald Trump’s exit, Easterly returned to the deep state, serving as CISA Director since 2021.
With 20 years of military service under her belt, Easterly is no stranger to discipline and structure. But how do you go from commanding troops in the military to commanding a bunch of computer nerds in an office? We're not quite sure, but we imagine it involves a lot of yelling and pointing at screens.
For a quick reference, some key events in the life of the soon to be “infamous” Jen Easterly.
In her spare time, Easterly is no stranger to volunteer work. She’s been a member of the Council on Foreign Relations for over 15 years and a fellow at the Aspen Institute since 2018.
But let's be serious, all that fancy book-learning and elitist hobnobbing doesn't mean squat when it comes to stopping hackers. In fact, we're pretty sure they're laughing at her from their dark smelly lairs as we speak. Why wouldn’t they, when CISA releases cringe-worthy videos like these under her leadership.
We have to question her role in standing up the first "cyber battalion." We weren’t entirely sure what that means, but it sounds like a bunch of soldiers running around with laptops instead of rifles. Perhaps they're the ones who keep the coffee machines running at the Pentagon?
But hey, at least they're making the digital world a safer place for us all, right? No, not really. She's all about telling the truth and being a dedicated civil servant, or so she'll tell you. Well, Jen, we hate to break it to you, but America Mission has been diggin’.
Under Easterly, CISA continues championing DEI. That’s more than a little woke; that’s Woke 101. Don’t worry, though; Easterly will "protect" this year's election, or at least she thinks she will. Her latest X profile photo features the message "#Protect '24" emblazoned on the chest of her cartoon avatar.
Director Jen Easterly may be a formidable force in the world of cybersecurity, but even she couldn't escape the spotlight of citizen journalism. Unfortunately for Easterly and CISA, loose lips sink ships.
Her CISA shenanigans include conspiring with Big Tech to censor dissident social media posts. These revelations were exposed in The Twitter Files, leading to a House of Representatives Judiciary Committee investigation with callbacks to the Church Commission.
More recently, Trevar Kolodny, a senior policy analyst at CISA, was caught on camera having a bar conversation with an undercover James O’Keefe. Kolodny confirmed CISA’s collusion with Big Tech and sympathized with Senator Rand Paul’s efforts to “gum up” CISA. O’Keefe called out Easterly by name in his report. After all, this has been happening under her leadership.
Jen Easterly is a force to be reckoned with in the deep state. Her long history within the federal government's intelligence community, background in military intelligence, and dopey disposition make her a master manipulator. She'll flee again to the private sector once Donald Trump returns to the White House, before he can even begin dismantling the deep state.
Happy Shaming dear friends. We would start here.
