This ambitious Democrat attorney showed he would do anything to "Get Trump": Matthew Colangelo
He was happy to take a huge demotion to put the screws to the NY District Attorney's office and see to it Trump's show trial ended in a conviction. This is the story of how he got there.
Matthew Colangelo is a deep state yes man prosecutor whose longstanding Trump vendetta has reached a historic climax. Legal scholars and political junkies alike will dissect his every move with the precision of forensic scientists for years to come.
Colangelo is a former NAACP lawyer who worked in the Obama White House, the New York Attorney General's office, and later turned down a senior U.S. Justice Department role to join the Manhattan DA's office. His role in the NYC Trump hush money trial is just the latest chapter in a long career of doing the deep state’s legal bidding.
The early days
Before law school, Matthew Colangelo was a researcher at the Institute for Democracy in Cape Town, South Africa, and a management consultant at Bain & Company in Boston. Colangelo graduated with a J.D. from Harvard in 2002. He served as a law clerk for then-Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals Sonia Sotomayor until 2003. After joining the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund, Colangelo rose through their ranks to become the Director of their Economic Justice Group before leaving for the DOJ. By 2012, Colangelo was the DOJ’s Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights before leaving for the Obama White House.
During the Obama administration, Colangelo had the luxury of working in several high-level roles. Colangelo served as former President Obama's Deputy Assistant and the National Economic Council's Deputy Director. He served as Chief of Staff to former Department of Labor Secretary Tom Perez for 3 years.

The Trump battles begin.
After Trump won the White House in 2017, Colangelo joined the New York State Office of the Attorney General. He became the New York AG’s top “social justice” attorney, replacing his future boss Alvin Bragg while working under then-AG Leticia James after she succeeded Barbara Underwood. Around the same time, Colangelo was getting paid as a political consultant for the DNC.
Here’s when Colangelo launched his Trump-obsessed lawfare campaign that has continued to this day. In 2018, Colangelo sued and won against the Trump Foundation, leading to its dissolvement. Colangelo as Chief Counsel for Federal Initiatives was involved in at least 32 lawsuits ranging from DACA immigration, civil rights, healthcare, and tax breaks. Colangelo eventually led over eighty lawsuits challenging federal agencies on constitutional and statutory grounds, continuously targeting the Trump administration on many policies.

The 2020s
Early in 2021, Colangelo served as the Biden administration’s acting Associate Attorney General, the third highest-ranking official in the U.S. DOJ. He served while his successor and new boss, Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta, awaited Senate confirmation. As Gupta's top deputy, Colangelo sat in on the morning senior staff meetings with AG Merrick Garland to help oversee the Justice Department's antitrust, civil, civil rights, and environmental and natural resources divisions for two years.
The Trump Trials
Colangelo’s time at the Obama White House and the New York State Office of the Attorney General has prepared him for the Trump trials. He took a big demotion to join Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s team in December 2022 as Senior Counsel and re-connect with his former colleague turned boss. It’s as if he was chiefly motivated to return his old Trump-targeting tricks.
Thanks to Colangelo’s prosecutorial efforts, Trump was found guilty on all 34 felony counts in his New York Stormy Daniels hush money trial. Trump will most likely win on appeal, but the damage has been done. America’s trust in the system is slowly being shattered if the Joe Biden regime and the COVID era hadn’t done that already.
As expected, the Trump trial conviction fiasco has backfired on Biden and the deep state. Post-verdict, fresh polls reveal Trump’s appeal has stood firm, while the Trump campaign team raked in fundraising donations totaling an eye-watering $53 million over just a few days, proving that his base is ready to dig in for the long haul. In true Trumpian fashion, Trump has come out and announced that he is prepared to go to jail, but warned that if he does, America will reach a breaking point.

A new call to action
This is history in the making. America is in somewhat familiar, yet uncharted territory, while corporate media is exploiting the MAGA movement’s righteous indignation by twisting and manipulating it falsely into calls for violence. Rest assured, America Mission is committed to peaceful and patriotic protesting. It should go without saying that violence is unacceptable.
Further, we should not allow the government and its cronies to fearmonger us into submission by waving events like J6 in front of our faces. As Americans, we have inalienable rights that help us protest against injustice and tyranny. If we’re too scared to express our rights at this critical moment, then future generations will grow to think those rights never existed.
Here's to Matthew Colangelo, who dared to help plunge the U.S. legal system and New York state into illegitimacy, while simultaneously boosting Trump’s status and war chest. Whether he’s a puppet master or just a puppet, one thing is certain: Colangelo’s a Democrat deep state goon who knows how to make headlines. That's the most valuable currency in American politics, but it’s terrible for average Americans.
That’s why readers who want to do more can consider signing on to America Mission’s newest call to action: boycotting New York City for participating in political persecution through the prosecution of former President Donald Trump. Together, with the help of America Mission’s allies and bold grassroots activism, the MAGA movement can show how little NYC’s business means to them.
